Accountant Murray Jack appointed to Securities Commission
The Securities Commission has appointed accountant Murray Jack as a member to replace Liz Hickey who stepped down in April for personal reasons.
Jack has been appointed from October 15 for a term of nine months or until the Financial Markets Authority has been established.
Commerce Minister Simon Power says Jack's background and practical expertise in accounting and auditing will be of great benefit to the commission.
Jack has been chief executive of Deloitte, Wellington, since 2005. He joined the firm in 1976 and was made a partner in 1987.
He has been involved in the development of the proposed auditor oversight regime and related regulatory issues.
He is also a board member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and is actively involved in the governance of accounting and auditing matters.
